Current cadet class information

 

143rd Cadet Class:

The 143rd Cadet Class reported for Basic Training on Sunday, May 31, 2015 with 120 Cadets appointed. They are currently in their 25th week of training with 95 Cadets remaining. Cadets have been participating in daily intense physical training sessions, have logged several hundred miles during their morning runs, spent many hours learning Pennsylvania traffic and criminal laws, and completed the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course, Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) training, weapons qualification, and several other training courses. They will soon participate in React to Survive, Scenario Week, Mock Court, and Honor of the Force training to culminate their intensive Basic Training. The next 3 weeks will be challenging and demanding for the Cadets of the 143rd Cadet Class, but the Cadets continue to work hard and meet every challenge.  The 143rd Cadet Class is scheduled to complete 27 weeks of training and join the First and the Finest to be posted around the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as Pennsylvania State Troopers on December 4, 2015.

 


 

144th Cadet Class:

The 144th Cadet Class reported for Basic Training on Sunday, September 13, 2015 with 116 Cadets appointed. They are currently in their 10th week of training with 99 Cadets remaining. Cadets most recently completed the intense Emergency Vehicle Operations Course.  They have already logged several hundred miles during their morning runs, swam countless lengths of the training tank, participated in daily intense physical training sessions, and are learning the science of policing and what it takes to be a Pennsylvania State Trooper.  The next 18 weeks of Basic Training will be challenging and demanding of the Cadets of the 144th Cadet Class. Upon completion of 27 weeks of their intensive training, the graduates will proudly join the First and the Finest and be posted around the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as Pennsylvania State Troopers on March 18, 2016.

Application Period - June 30, 2014 to December 31, 2014 - Selection cycle 6006
 

Candidates who tested during the 6006 Selection Cycle will remain on the 6006 eligibility list until it is superseded by a new list. To be considered for each new eligibility list, applicants are required to submit a new application for each testing cycle.
 

The PSP will contact candidates for further processing, in rank order, according to the needs of the Department.

 

Qualified candidates receive instructions by email, it is important that all contact information is current.  Since the Department communicates with applicants via telephone, email, and U.S. Mail, it is important that contact information is current.  To update contact information, candidates may log back into the application using their Email Address and Password.

Application Period – January 1, 2015 to June 30, 2015 - Selection cycle 6007


Pennsylvania State Police Cadet Oral Examinations were administered from October 16, 2015 through October 20, 2015 and have now concluded.

 

Oral Examinations were administered only to those candidates who applied online from January 1, 2015 through June 30, 2015 and achieved a passing score on the Written Test administered from August 10, 2015, to August 29, 2015.  Oral examination results and final list rankings notices will be emailed by December 11, 2015 to those candidates who participated in the Oral Examination.
 

Candidates who participated in the Oral Examination in October 2015 and do not receive an email notification by December 11, 2015 are advised to email ra-entrylevelexam@pa.gov with a message including full name and last four digits of Social Security number.  Oral Examination results and final list rankings are not available online.  Candidates are advised to check “junk” or “spam” files prior to emailing ra-entrylevelexam@pa.gov.

 

Candidates, whose contact information has changed since initial application, are encouraged to update contact information to include mailing address, email address, and telephone number, via their online applicant profile.  If contact information is not up to date candidates may not receive important future testing information or updates.

Application Period – July 1, 2015 to present - Selection cycle 6008
 

The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) is currently accepting applications for State Police Cadet. Applications for the position of Cadet that are received after 12:00 a.m., July 1, 2015 will be held on file for future examinations.
 

The entry-level law enforcement examination for the position of Cadet is periodically administered by the Pennsylvania State Civil Service Commission (SCSC) at its computer-based testing centers.  The next written examination is anticipated for February 2016.  Anticipated test dates are subject to change.

Qualified applicants for the position of PSP Cadet will be notified via email, with instructions on how to register with SCSC to take the entry-level law enforcement examination when an examination is scheduled to be administered.  Others who attempt to register with SCSC who have not been pre-qualified by PSP will be denied.

 

Since qualified candidates will receive instructions by email, it is important that contact information is current.  To update contact information, candidates may log back into the application using their email address and password.
